Welcome to St. Thomas More Newman Center. We’re happy to have you join us for our Masses! We offer the following accommodations for individuals with special needs.
Hearing Assistance Devices
Hearing aids are available to individuals who need assistance. Ask one of our greeters when you come in, and they can help you get one.
Low-Gluten Hosts
Low gluten hosts are available to individuals who are sensitive to gluten. Parishioners who regularly attend Mass at St. Thomas More can contact the parish office to learn where to find them. Visitors can ask a greeter for assistance in receiving a low gluten host.
Blue Chairs
We have four blue chairs in the back of our Chapel with armrests for individuals with mobility issues. Please leave these free for those who need them.
For Individuals in Wheelchairs
Our greeters can move chairs from the ends of the rows to make room for wheelchairs. Please let them know when you arrive if you need a chair moved.
Distraction Bag for Individuals with Sensory Disorders
Sensory-friendly toys are available for children with sensory disorders to borrow when they become overwhelmed. Families of children with disabilities can ask one of our greeters or staff members before or after Mass to see where these are located or contact the parish office during the week.
Social Stories for Individuals with Autism
We have two social stories available to help children with autism learn about going to Mass. One explains what it looks like to attend Mass and the other explains what it looks like to attend Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is offered during the 9 & 11 a.m. Sunday Masses for children aged 3 to fifth grade to learn about the Scriptures at their own level of understanding.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word Social Story coming soon.
A laminated, bound copy of the social story for Mass will be available to borrow at Mass as well. Ask a greeter if you need to see it.
