Homilies

Fr. Dan – 2nd Sunday of Lent: The oath of God and the transfiguration of us.

Homework for the week: Listen to the word of God this week (I recommend you read the scriptures for daily Mass each day this week. You can find them on the USCCB website-you can even register there so a daily email is sent to you with the readings.) Listen to the word of God and pray that your spiritual sight may be purified to see God’s glory.

Fr. Dan – 1st Sunday of Lent: The Holy Spirit (and confession) is our ally!

Homework for the week: Make a list this week of the deepest desires of your heart. Then ask the Lord to purify your heart. And then trust Him with your heart. In fact, let’s entrust Him with our heart right now…

Fr. Dan – 6th Day In Ordinary Time: Healing and connection in the spirit is the key!

Homework for the week: Remember and live the primacy of the spiritual this week, first in your relationship with Christ, but also in your other relationships. Desire to be made clean in your spirit!

Fr. Dan – 5th Sunday In Ordinary Time: Complaining with Faith, and bearing one another’s burdens

Homework for the week: How can you help to bear another’s burdens this week? Pray about and strive to live this week as the Mystical Body of Christ, maybe especially with those struggling to choose life.

Fr. Dan – 4th Sunday In Ordinary Time: Casting out anxieties!

Homework for the week: What are the worldly anxieties that cling to you? Pray this week, every day this week, out loud, a minor exorcism: in the name of Jesus, spirit of [name it: fear, lust, greed, etc.] depart from me and never return. Sweet Jesus, fill me with your Spirit of [charity, chastity, generosity…]

Fr. Dan – 3rd Sunday In Ordinary Time: The New Time: Having as though not having

Homework for the week: Discern, think about, pray about your stewardship here at Newman not just as: what’s leftover of my time and treasure that I can offer. But rather, remembering the kingdom of heaven, how shall I pray, how shall I participate, and how shall I sacrificially give today?
